“The Largest Movement in History Is Black Lives Matter”

On June 6th half a million people were out in nearly 550 places protesting across the U.S. The protests are still going on now. About 26 million people in the U.S. have participated in the protests due to the death of George Floyd. We even have celebrities in the protests. It’s really that serious. According to the scholars and crowd-counting experts, these protests would make recent protests the largest movement in this country’s history.

Neal Caren, an associate professor stated, “I have never seen self-reports of protest participation that high for a specific issue over such a short period.” The surveys are saying that more than seven million people have participated in the recent protests.

According to polls, the Women’s March of 2017 had about 5 million people every day; however, that was a highly organized event. But the Black Lives Matter protests seem to have surpassed those numbers.

There have been more than 4,700 protests with there being an average of 140 per day. More than 40 percent of the counties have had a protest. Shockingly, 95 percent of the counties that had a protest were mostly white. With there being three-quarters of the counties being more than 75 percent white. Seemingly, the movement appeared to attract the young and wealthy. It was half of those people’s first time being in a form of activism.
